Our Story

Welcome to Hitching Rail Retreat, a boutique family-run escape in the heart of the Atherton Tablelands. Mother-daughter duo Janet and Brooke own and operate the retreat, offering a unique collection of carefully restored spaces designed for romance, relaxation, and reconnection.

It started as a vision to share the magic of Tropical North Queensland. Since then, it has grown into one of the region’s most sought-after romantic getaways. Located just 10 minutes from Yungaburra and 60 minutes from Cairns, Hitching Rail Retreat is where couples disconnect from everyday life and immerse themselves in the rainforest’s natural beauty.

Each of our three accommodations tells its own story. We have a designer glamping tent and two heritage train carriages. Every space features bespoke interiors, outdoor baths, and cozy fireplaces. Every detail creates unforgettable moments.
